David Lynch & Donovan David Lynch David Lynch

David Lynch is one of the most creative and fascinating artists of our time. He is the director of Eraserhead, Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks, Wild at Heart, Lost Highway, The Straight Story, Mulholland Drive, and INLAND EMPIRE.

David became a household name when his innovative television series Twin Peaks aired around the world for two seasons in the early 1990s. But he is not only creative as a filmmaker. He is also a painter, photographer and sculptor — his artwork was shown at galleries in New York, Paris and Tokyo. He designs furniture, composes soundscapes, writes song lyrics, and works as an author and producer.

David’s many distinguished awards for filmmaking include Academy Award nominations as best director for Mulholland Drive in 2001, Blue Velvet in 1986, and Elephant Man in 1980. David also won best director from the Cannes International Film Festival and the LA Film Critics Association for Mulholland Drive. In 2006, David received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Venice Film Festival.

David is also author of the new book, Catching the Big Fish: Meditation, Consciousness, and Creativity (Tacher/Penguin), and founder and chair of the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace, which provides scholarships for in-school programs offering stress-reducing meditation for at-risk youth.

“...one of the few films this year that deserves to be called art.”
